About the WatchMouse
Professional
White-label
Introduction
This document is
the users manual for the WatchMouse Standard
White-label. The WatchMouse Standard White-label offers WatchMouse
resellers the possibility to add website monitoring to their portfolio
of services and to integrate the basic functionality in their own site.
The WatchMouse
Standard White-label is intended for WatchMouse
resellers; more about the reseller program can be found here: http://www.watchmouse.com/resellers.php
The WatchMouse
reseller program is defined as such that the resellers
will enter and maintain the rules and addresses of their clients. This
is reflected in this white-label, where no pages are available to
change settings by the clients of resellers themselves. It provides for
reporting pages and pages with product information.
If you have
questions after reading this manual, you can contact us
through the helpdesk: http://www.watchmouse.com/helpdesk.php
Available pages
The pages that
can be integrated into your site are similar pages as
you will find on the WatchMouse page, but with some changes
(especially in the colors).
A page becomes a
white-label version of a page when the 'white'
directory is added to the URL after
the language, so e.g. the page with the packages overview is normally:
http://www.watchmouse.com/en/services.php,
and the white-label version is this: http://www.watchmouse.com/en/white/services.php.
We have made the
pages as neutral as possible, so that when you
integrate them into your own site with your own branding, it will seem
like your own pages.
The following
pages are available as a white-label page:
What to add yourself?
In order to
provide a complete website monitoring package from your
website, we advise to add at least the following content/pages:
- Service description (like a home page) where you describe why
website monitoring is important, what your specialization is, etc.
- Products: a page with a textual description of the packages found
in the 'Compare packages' page
- Pricing: the prices for each package, and eventual extra services
you provide (can be combined with the 'Products' page)
- Register: a registration form or a page with an e-mail address
where your clients can sign-up (can be integrated with your existing
registration page, if any)
- Contact us: most likely something you already have, but you can
consider to have a special website monitoring contact address or page
Of course you
can add what you want, like payments, helpdesk, etc.
How to integrate
it into your site
The most easy
way to integrate the pages described in the 'Available pages' section is to add
them
into your pages with frames. This can be either normal frames or
iframes.
Another option
is to display these pages in pop-ups where you hide the
address bar of the browser.
We recommend to
not have the pages linked into your site as normal
pages (not as frame or pop-up), because it loses the branding of your
site, there is no navigation, and the URL of WatchMouse is visible
instead of your own.
An example of integration with
frames is
available.
Languages and currencies
The white-label
pages are available in all languages supported by
WatchMouse. The white-label pages have a simple link menu at the bottom
of the page to change language. You can force the default language by
using the language in the URL you use for your 'white-pages', like here
for German: http://www.watchmouse.com/de/white/services.php
The available
languages are easily found when you inspect the language
links at the bottom of each white-page.
If you don't
provide a language (like http://www.watchmouse.com/white/services.php),
the WatchMouse site will determine the most probable language of the
visitor (very accurate). So if your clients are form different language
groups this is the best to do.
The white-label
pages don't show any pricing, so you can use any
currency for your customers.
Marketing tips & hints
Just a couple of
things you might consider in order to attract
customers:
- Approach your existing customers
- Give them a free trial
- Advertise with Google ads, keep it very focused to your target
audience
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)*
- Make publicity in the press about your new service
- Get involved in discussion groups for webmasters, and add a
banner/link to your site
- Differentiate: focus on a niche (geographically or functional).
keep to your specialization and/or your country or state/province
- Make monitoring an integrated part of your overall services
- Add extra services on top of basis monitoring like developing
plug-ins for customers, or analyzing the reports and alerts and make
recommendations
* Note: pages
with frames don't get scored very well by search engines. Please read

Example site
We have made a
very basic example-site using the white-label pages.
Integration was done with normal frames: http://www.whitemouse.info/
Have a look at
the source of the page and the individual frames to see
how it works.
Current limitations
The white label
pages offered by WatchMouse still have some limitations, which will be
addressed very soon:
- The email and SMS alerts are not branded. In other words: they
contain links to the WatchMouse site, and the WatchMouse brand is used
- The current white label pages are made as neutral as possible,
but are probably not suitable for integration in all websites. Our plan
is to offer the possibility to upload your own stylesheet (CSS), so
that you can use the styles and colors that match your web site.
- Not all pages on the WatchMouse site are available as a white
label page.
- More suggestions for improvement? Please let us know!
About the WatchMouse
Professional White-label
The Standard
Professional White-label has some limitations. It is for
example not a complete white-label with all WatchMouse pages in your
look and feel. Also the white-label pages are (indeed) white, and don't
contain colors that exactly match your branding. Most important, it is
not a complete self-service solution (as the WatchMouse service itself).
